Jeanine Mason -”America’s Favorite Dancer”

Jeanine wins!

Jeanine wins!

Well, that was a close one! Here’s why!
Kayla wins! – Why not? She was amazing! She has the body, the technique, the diversity in every dance style. Why didn’t she win? In my opinion, there were 2 reasons:

  • She was praised so much by the judges, people voting thought she was either going to sail through to win the whole enchilada, or because she was the judges’ favorite, they didn’t want her to win.
  • She was a brilliant dance technician! This means that the execution of her movements were perfect in almost every dance!  But, possibly she needed to dance with a little more soul.  She just wasn’t getting “popular” with the audience.  Oh yea, everyone knew she was a fantastic dancer, but let’s not forget that it is more than that…you need to connect.

Evan wins! – Why not?  This is a tough one.  I think that people finally realized that he wasn’t “bringin’ it”  Why, oh why, did he repeat the same number for the final solo? I don’t know what strategy he had for doing that…it didn’t work for me.  I was with Adam Shankman.  We said, “That was a risk.”  Evan is great.  People loved his “Gene Kelly style” myself included.  But, in the end Jeanine and Brandon grew more through the weeks then he.

Brandon wins! – Why not? Brandon’s improvement in personality and stage presence was amazing.  We began to see this in the final 3 weeks.  And, his solos were nothing short of spectacular!  Man…that kid can dance!  His power and technique came through like gang-busters!!  I think that he must have been very close to Jeanine in votes.

Jeanine wins!! – Yippee!! Why!

  • She’s beautiful and a great technician like Kayla!
  • She has style like Evan!  I would call her, POWerful! That is what she brings to the table.
  • Her ability to dance “toe to toe” with Brandon and keep up with his strength….fabulous!
  • As the judges commented, she peaked at the right time!  Nobody really noticed her much in the beginning then, she broke out and rose to the top.
  • Jeanine must have been listening to all the critique, because she improved every week.

Congratulations to the top 12!  I say 12 because they will all go on tour this season.  All were wonderfully talented dancers!  It was a very enjoyable season.

I agree. The dancers are incredible and probably exceed the talents of most”professional” dancers. The prize should be bigger and the producers should point their efforts to the next step, creating a weekly show using the some of the great dancers they are discovering.

Thanks for the comment Ray. Possibly the new movie “Fame”, which already stars one of the past contestants, Kherrington Payne, will spin off some TV and movie opportunities for incredible dancers!

All of the top ten dancers (or twelve in this case) can breath easy because they will all be going on tour. Being on the show at all, with the exposure that the dancers receive and the choreographers they get to work with, is a prize in itself. We did have a very talented top four this season. I would like to see someone who can really bring the technique with an amazing magnetic personality to match. I’m not sure I was fulfilled in both of those areas with one dancer. It seems difficult to find a dancer who is a double threat!

  • Francine says:

Yea, come to think of it you are right…there really wasn’t a dancer who had the entire package. But, maybe that made it more fun to watch because it forced you to keep trying to come up with your favorite. While doing that, you found they were all so very good. The judges were right. Nobody came out like a star of the group. Heck, lots of them are so young 18, 19 and 20’s. They have only just begun. It will be fun to watch them in the future.
